Are designers going green?

It sure seems so.

Some of the biggest luxury brands in the world seem to be “going green”. Whether it’s luxury watch brands, designers of fashion, artists, appliance manufactures, or the auto industry, we are seeing more and more green literally.

For example, some of the most popular Rolex styles now sport a green face, bezel, strap, or sometimes all three.

The men’s Rolex Jubilee Stainless Steel watch with Diamond Dial and green face for example, is a great basic watch but the green face makes it a stand out piece.  This model is a basic staple in so many wardrobes but they updated green style takes on a whole new look and some would argue, meaning.  This  Datejust 36 in Oystersteel features a green dial with 10 diamond hour markers and a Jubilee fliplock bracelet.  Aesthetically, the Datejust has spanned eras because of its classic yet masculine style. Another great feature is that the day-to-day Care requires very little attention. You can enjoy this watch for about $9500.00

Cartier and Piaget also offer Green looks for those who want something other than “basic black”.

Piaget chose their ALTIPLANO ULTIMATE CONCEPT WATCH to sport the green sensibility and the watch was also the winner of the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” watch prize at the 2020 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). It is the thinnest watch coming in a mere  2 millimeters. Piaget was in good company with Bovet, Breitling, and Van Cleef & Arpels claiming two awards each. Also of interest, both Voutilainen and Tudor repeated their category wins from 2019 (Voutilainen for “Men’s Watch Prize” and Tudor for “Challenge Watch Prize”).  Other winners, from dive watches to collectors pieces,  include:

Even appliance manufactures are getting into the “Green game”. The heavy hitter Viking is producing a green version of their Tuscany free standing  stove. It will set you back about $26,000 but is chic for the right space.  Not for those who are timid to commit though.

And then there’s Bentley and we know they are never wrong. Even they have recently rolled out several options of a green finish for those who wish to indulge.  For the Flying Spur you can now chose from Alpine Green, Apple Green, British Racing green, Cumbrian Greene, or Midnight Emerald. No green option for the interior though in case you are wondering.
