The Rolex DateJust

one of rolex’s most popular watches

The Rolex DateJust

The Rolex Datejust is and will likely be one of Rolex’s most popular watches whether it’s new or used. It’s popularity may also be due to the watch’s affordability despite it’s worldwide brand recognition known for luxury.  The Rolex Datejust watches can be acquired for as little as $2500.00 depending on condition, features, and of course metal type.

Rolex first introduced the Datejust in 1945.  It was their  reference number 4467, and the watch was only available in 18KT yellow gold.

The DateJust is also one of the oldest watches that is still made today.

In the 1950’s, Rolex introduced the stainless steel version and two-tone metal version of the Datejust which launched sales into the record books. Additionally, the jubilee bracelet was created and was designed specifically for the Datejust watch.

A significant update came in 2009 with the release of the Datejust II, where Rolex increased the size of the watch so consumers could have a choice. 36MM or 41MM which they named  Datejust II.  In 2016 Rolex rolled out another  version with the name the Datejust 41.

Famous Rolex sightings include the motion picture industry. Paul Newman was seen wearing a stainless steel Datejust in “The Color of Money” and Harrison Ford had on a Datejust in the movie “Frantic”, but the watch can be seen from main street to Wall Street as the watch is so versatile, and can fit any budget.  Need diamonds on every digit?  No problem, those are available too and are very desirable on the resale market.
